• Description

Elmwood Gold is a selection featuring a vigorous rounded growth habit, with bright golden foliage, not unlike that of C. obtusa ‘Crippsii’. This cultivar makes a bold statement wherever luminous contrast is desired and could pass for ‘Crippsii’ in shrub form. Rarely offered in the trade, ‘Elmwood Gold’ will eventually form a large globe measuring 6-8’ tall and wide. Overall size can be restrained through an occasional shearing, which can also enhance the color with fresh new growth of bright gold. Makes an excellent option for mixing within the shrub border, or for a splashy foundation planting. Hardy to Zone 5.
