• Description

One of the more unique miniature spruce here at Foxborough, ‘Humilis’ is one of those vintage selections dating back to an unknown time in the 1800’s. First described in literature by Ludwig Beissner in the late 1800’s, ‘Humilis’ makes for an irregular, compact pyramid, with tightly clustered buds that create a witch’s broom effect. Growing at a rate less than 3” per year, specimens could possibly reach a size of 4’ in 10-15 years. A great selection for the rock garden, ‘Humilis’ is hardy to Zone 3.
