Royal Purple is a purple leafed variety of smoke bush. 12-15 ft tall and nearly double in width.  Foliage maroon-red in spring and darkening to purplish red, but may be greenish in late summer and  may become scarlet in fall.  The upper surface of leaves often with a pink margin, underside is green.  Flowers look like a haze of light purple/red
