• Description

Shigarami' leafs out in the early spring with a heavily divided bright green leaf that highlighted with a rich purple red border. When given protection from the hot afternoon sun, this border holds well into the summer. The photo above was taken in early June.

In the fall, 'Shigarami' starts out as bright yellow, slowly changing to a bright orange. To finish this fall display, hints of fire engine red engulf the terminal branching overtop of the bright oranges and yellows. This selection has a strong central leader that grows upward, while the side branching becomes more lateral. 'Shigarami' will reach 10-12 ft by 8-10 ft in width in 15 years. This uncommon selection is truly unique and a great addition as a focal point or an accent planting for nearly any garden.
