• Description

While named for the Tian Shan Mountains of China, the original homeland of this species, Heptacodium ‘Tianshan’ was actually a recent development coming to us from the shores of France. Considered a significant improvement over the species, this selection still bears the same fragrant, late summer, white flowers, and purple to pinkish seed pods, but on a tight compact grower that is easily maintained at roughly 8-10’ in height with a lesser spread. ‘Tianshan’ makes a great addition to the landscape, especially for a burst of last summer early fall color in an otherwise bleak, summer scorched landscape. Hardy in Zones 5-9.
